He lived next door.
Alison Eckrich was an expert at being invisible. Having been raised by a mother who saw only flaws, she had learned long ago to watch and never participate. Until him. He was gorgeous from what little she could make out through his bathroom window and he awakened things inside her she had always been told was wrong. But she didn’t care.
She was addicted.
Gabriel Madoc was no stranger to the cold sting of betrayal. His broken heart had left him hard and bitter and that was how he liked it. Until her. She was a vision in the soft twilight. Everything about her called to him. It didn’t even matter he couldn’t see her face.
He wanted her.
The rules were simple No names. No faces. No attachments. They both had what the other needed so long as they never broke the rules. But what will happen when the mystery is unveiled and they both come face to face with the truth and each other? Is what they shared in the cloak of darkness enough to keep them together, or will reality tear them apart?
The Voyeur Next Door edition by Airicka Phoenix Literature Fiction eBooks
The first few chapters of this book are definitely reminiscent of the kink and quirk one might find in a Charlotte Stein or Mary Ann Rivers book, but soon it veers into a more traditional romance. It also takes a cue card from some recent cable TV shows where all the nudity and heat are in the premier episode and then there is a slow simmer. Airicka Phoenix is awfully talented at writing the slow simmer."The anonymity is what gets us hot."
Protagonist Ali is geeky, introverted, repressed....and quick-witted, kind-hearted, and curious. I liked her in the beginning and continued to like her as her inhibitions relaxed and the story unfolded. It was refreshing that there was not a personality/background info dump in the first 10% of the book, and I luxuriated in discovering key things about the personal histories of the romantic couple halfway into the novel.
Lumberjack-sized Gabriel is harder to snuggle up to since he is mean and bull-headed. "And in that moment I realized something; she made me feel young and not in a good way. She made me feel childish and petty. I wanted to stick my tongue out at her and that was just mortifying." At least Gabriel owned his pig-headedness. Conversely, I loved how the possessiveness of his behavior regarding Ali hits him so suddenly and at inopportune times. Those moments were some of the best scenes in the book.
Traditional side characters framed in decidedly non-traditional accoutrements enhanced my reading enjoyment. In addition, influences of the side characters (mainly Earl and Tammy) move the relationship between Ali and Gabriel forward in meaningful spurts. They also add the only tension plot points.
This well-written book was well on its way to a five-star rating from me until the very end. Ali shifted out of her introvert status a little too quickly, and it was clunky wrapping up all the loose ends in a neat little package. But for those of you who like a good epilogue, this one really ranks up there. VERY solid four stars. I will definitely look for more by Ms. Phoenix.

The Voyeur Next Door edition by Airicka Phoenix Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I've read 3 other books from Airicka Phoenix (her Baby Saga series) and have always loved her writing. I have to say this is my favorite thus far. She is great at writing erotica and this book will surely be one of my favorites for a long time to come. It's like the author's writing just keeps getting better and better with each books she writes. The premise of this book was very interesting and the book did not disappoint. Once I started reading, I didn't want to put the book down. I really loved Ali's character. She was quirky, funny, and smart. It was highly entertaining to read the banter between her and Gabriel whenever they were together. I would highly recommend this book.
The Voyeur Next Door takes Airicka Phoenix to a whole new level. I never read 50 Shades, but I can't image anything hotter that The Voyeur Next Door.
Not only is there the sexy stuff that has become ever so mainstream, but a depth of characters and plot that will be hard to surpass. You know the characters so well by the time you turn the last page; you feel as though you're friends.
This book is a work heart. You can feel the author's voice roll off of each and every page. A must read!!!
Okay, so I don't give in depth details and what-not on reviews. I will say this though, Airicka has a way with words that will leave you giggling, sniffling and panting all in the same paragraph. Good grief. I felt the depth of the character's emotions on such a level that I had a hard time remembering I was just reading a book! She has this power to pull you into the story and weave a web around you so intricate that you don't realize until it's too late that you've lost hours of sleep or gotten no laundry folded or dishes done--or even feed the kids (okay, okay I am kidding on that last one) but you get the picture.
The characters in this book are witty, snarky, cranky and hilarious. They are incredibly well rounded and leave you feeling everything they feel. So would I recommend this book? Abso-freaking-lootly!!! Do yourselves a favor and satisfy your inner cheerleader grab this book right now!!!!
4 stars because it made me laugh. I loved the discriptions and phrases she used. It was different than I thought it was going to be.
I kind of wish I found out the identities the same time the characters did. I wonder how much that would have changed the story. I would have loved to have had that WTH moment along with the characters.
I highly recommend this book. I loved the characters, I loved their interactions. She did a great job bringing the characters to life.
I wish she would have given us a little more background on Gabe and why that tragedy affected him . Maybe details of his interactions with his previous girl.
Thank you Airika I really needed that.
This book for me was the AMAZING heels in the back of the closet you couldnt wait to wear but kept pileing other shoes on top of that amazing pair and forgot you bought them until you cleaned out your closet.... I had every intention of reading this book from the get go I was stoked and things came up and other books were purchased... sadly to say it was lost in my kindle madness. But when I did get a chance to read I devoured the whole thing, it was really hard to set this down just to get a drink or even to get up and pee! Lol Start to finish everything was steady it got to the point where I was at war with myself over wanting things to come out and then again not wanting them to come out because things were getting oddly amazing! In my mind Alceid from true blood was my Gabriel through and through he had the whole "Jack" thing working for him just couldnt get enough of the descriptions how everything formed and buldged while reading ;) Ali I had a rough time placing as an actual person as I read but she was amazing. She was that girl everyone kind of steered away from she was a true horse of her own color but together they complimented eachother. Not going to lie I may totally pick this book back up in the near future.
